Hyderabad: Telangana’s own G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for Home, claimed on Friday that Hyderabad has become a safe zone for “terrorists.”

“Wherever in the country, a terrorist incident happens, its roots are in Hyderabad,” English language Deccan Chronicle quoted him as saying in an exclusive interview which he gave to the newspaper after becoming a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet. He has been appointed to the Ministry of Home which is headed by Amit Shah, former President of the BJP.

In the other part of his no barred interview, he said, “The supporters of terrorists will be permanently eliminated. Our main goal is the country’s integrity, unity, and security.”

Kishan Reddy also said that people from Bangladesh and Myanmar are staying illegally in the Old City of Hyderabad. The Union Home Ministry will take action against them.

Kishan Reddy said in the interview, “India is not dharma satram (free place to stay) for everyone; we will conduct a census to find out who are Indians and who are intruders in the country.”

This was perhaps one of the first interviews of Mr. Reddy who won Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat after defeating T Sai Kiran of the TRS by more than 62,000 votes. He had lost last year election to Telangana legislative assembly when he contested from Amberpet Assembly segment. Kaleru Venkatesh of TRS won that seat.

According to a report in The New Indian Express with Kishan Reddy as his number two, Amit Shah is expected to take a number of security-related decisions that could likely to corner the TRS and gain political advantage.
