New Delhi: Justice Markandey Katju shared a flow chart to explain the entire process of proposed nation-wide National Register of Citizens (NRC).
As per the flowchart, people would be asked to produce documents to prove their citizenship. If they do not have sufficient documents, they can produce proof of religion and origin. If they are non-Muslims of Pakistan, Afghanistan or Bangladesh, they will be given citizenship.
People who fail to prove their citizenship may face deportation or may be sent to detention centers.
Meanwhile, anti-CAA protests intensified across the country. Almost all the major cities saw protesters on the streets despite substantial police presence. At some places, protests took a violent turn.
