CBSE suggests change in question paper pattern

Hyderabad: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to change the pattern of question papers of X and XII standards.

Its objective is to expose the creative skills and thinking capacity of the students. It is an attempt in the direction of talking out the students from the stereotyped and mechanical type of examination.

This was disclosed by Mr. Anurag Tripathi, secretary of CBSE while addressing the educational summit organized by ASOCHEM.

As a consequence of this change, in the public examinations of the board to be held next year the students of X standard have to solve 20% objective type questions whereas 10% question will be based on the creative and analytical skills of the students.

Of later, it was being criticized that the present education system has turned out to be a number game. A student who mugs up the answers in a better way scores a maximum number of marks.

The main propose of the schools and coaching centers is to provide ‘Key’ to the students and not to teach them anything new.

Due to heavy load of objective type questions, stress is laid on rote learning.

NCERT in its report admitted that 65% of the students know how to read the text but they don’t know its meaning. In this manner, the creative talents of the students are being overlooked. They lack inquisitiveness.

The main reason for India lagging behind in the process of development is that our engineering graduates have impressive marks sheets and grand degrees but they lack skills.
