China vows to unite with Turkey to counter unilateralism

Ankara: Chinese Ambassador to Turkey Deng Li said China will continue to coordinate with Turkey on international affairs and in opposing unilateralism and international bullying.

The Chinese envoy made the remarks at the reception to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the China on Thursday, which Turkish senior officials including Deputy Foreign Minister Yavuz Selim Kiran and Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar attended, Xinhua news agency reported.

During his opening speech, Deng hailed the substantial development that China-Turkey ties have achieved over the past 48 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations.

He also stressed that bilateral cooperation in areas including trade, investment, technology and energy has been promoted and that the two countries should step up efforts to strengthen cooperation under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and Turkey’s “Middle Corridor” plan.

It is important for China and Turkey to continue coordination on international affairs, as well as on opposing unilateralism and international bullying, Deng added.

Over 800 people including Chinese and Turkish officials, diplomats, businesspeople and students have been present at the ceremony.
