City police suspend 62 licenses in ‘drunk driving’ cases

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Traffic Police have cancelled the driving licenses of two persons and suspended 60 others last month, sources said.

When the traffic rules violators were presented in the court it imposed a fine of Rs 61.35 lakh.

Speaking about the performance of the police during the month that ended two days ago officers said 480 persons were awarded imprisonment for various offences. These cases included those who received imprisonment between 1 and 10 days.

Anil Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, said, “The policemen are conducting traffic education and awareness camps in all three commissionerates in and around Hyderabad. The objective is to educate commuters on traffic rules in a bid to make Hyderabad safe and accident-free.”

He warned of stringent action against those breaking traffic rules.

The suspension of driving licenses for the violators ranges from one month to six years.
