Comic-Con 7th edition in Hyderabad from October 12

Hyderabad: The Comic-Con, India’s greatest pop culture experience, is back with the 7th edition of Hyderabad Comic Con on October 12 and 13, 2019 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm at the HITEX Exhibition Center. Sponsored by Maruti Suzuki Arena, the two-day-long extravaganza will be bigger and better this year, powered by an awesome line-up of Indian and International guests, Meet & Greet Sessions, Gaming Tournaments, and Experiential Zones from the world’s leading studios.

Tickets for 7th Maruti Suzuki Hyderabad Comic Con 2019 are available on the Hyderabad Comic Con Website (http://bit.ly/2oZJfqb) as well as on-ground at the venue. The Single Day Pass is priced at INR 599 and the SuperFan two-day VIP Pass at INR 1999. The SuperFan pass enables VIP entry on both days and is loaded with several perks such as a Thanos Funko-Pop, Marvel Tee, Bag & Badge, a poster and a limited-edition comic book.

This year, Comic-Con is bringing together another fantastic line-up of pop-culture guests, including creators of some of the world’s most popular webcomics. Nathan W. Pyle, the creator of webcomic Strange Planet and a New York Times bestselling author, will be joined by Jonathan Kunz, who has co-created War and Peas, with Elizabeth Pich.  

Joining them at the show will be leading Indian comic book publishers, artists and writers like Abhijeet Kini, Vivek Goel, Gaurav Basu, Saumin Patel – and creators of immensely popular Indian webcomics like Sailesh Gopalan (Brown PaperBag), Bhagya Babu (Awkwerrrd) and Sumit Kumar (Bakaramax). In 2019, the format of the Arena main stage also gets bigger and better with exclusive live performances by popular stand-up, music and dance act like Sapan Verma, RajaSeka, Beatboxerish, LiveWire and Duality.

Cosplay remains a very popular aspect of Comic-Con India, and this year keeping in mind the growing, vibrant Cosplay community, Comic-Con India has introduced a new Cosplay contest format. The contest which will give out prizes worth INR 2 Lacs each day of the show, will have two categories.

The first category, Indian Championship of Cosplay 2019 Hyderabad Qualifier, will see participants apply to complete online, pre-selected participants will go through a stage display session and compete on 3 parameters – needlework, FX and armor. Each day, the winners of the Hyderabad qualifier will not only win awards but also qualify to participate in the Indian Championship of Cosplay 2019, followed by a chance to represent India at the Crown World Championship of Cosplay in Chicago.

The second contest format, namely the Hyderabad Cosplay Championship 2019 is a celebration of all pop culture. Participants can register on-ground at the venue each day, and then compete in the Arena stage to eventually win the Grand prize for the contest.

Some of the leading exhibitors and brands from the show’s 1200+ strong network will also be coming to the show to create one of the coolest and quirkiest shopping experiences in the country. Hyderabad Comic Con will offer fans a chance to enjoy real-world exhibits of their favourite comics, TV shows, games, anime & movies, along with the best from the houses of Disney, Marvel, Lucas Films, Warner Bros, AMD, WWE, Sony Networks & more.

The Hyderabad event will be followed by the Bengaluru edition, which will be held at KTPO, Whitefield from 16-17 November 2019. Mumbai will host its edition of Comic-Con at the Bombay Convention & Exhibition Centre from 7-8 December 2019. The 9th edition of the New Delhi show will be held on 20-22 December 2019 at NSIC Grounds, Okhla. Finally, Ahmedabad will host its first edition of Comic-Con at the Gujarat University Convention and Exhibition Centre on February 1st and 2nd 2020.
