Complete Mallanna Sagar works in 6 months: CM

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today directed the officials to complete Mallanna Sagar project works on a war-footing in six months. Give a report of remaining works to be completed to high court by May 11, he said.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao held a review meeting with officials and entrusted the job to CMO secretary Smitha Sabharwal to complete the task by giving away compensation. He also directed her to speed up rehabilitation and employment programs to the displaced under the Mallanna Sagar project.

The State government has taken up rescue, rehabilitation and compensation works by spending Rs 800 crore to help the displaced. “Ensure that the works are completed on time and the project should get waters next June. Since only small portion of works related to compensation was left, the officials should coordinate to complete them, he said.

He also alerted the officials to be careful of those who come to prevent the works of the project. Hold village-wise meetings by appointing officials to distribute compensation to the displaced land owners, he added.
