Counting of votes for LS: steps taken to maintain transparency

Hyderabad: Mr. Rajat Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer of TS in a press conference held here yesterday informed that for the counting of votes pertaining to 17 Assembly constituencies for Parliamentary seat of Hyderabad, all the necessary arrangements have been made.

He told that counting of votes will start at 8 a.m. It will take place at 35 counting stations simultaneously.

In the beginning, postal ballots will be counted.

He also informed that the services of 6,745 persons are being commissioned.

He told that for Hyderabad Parliamentary constituency, in all 443 candidates participated.

He also said that the counting of VVPATS will also be ensured of five counting machines.

There will be 14 counting centers.

In Nizamabad, 30 counting tables will be arranged.

The responsibility of the declaration of election results is vested with the Returning Officer and Election Commission has no role to play.

He specified that in order to maintain transparency, all possible arrangements have been made.

At all the counting centers, the observers of the Central Election Commission will monitor the proceedings.

Police have been given instructions not to allow people to gather near the counting centers.
