Court grants exemption to Jindal to contest election

New Delhi: A Delhi court hearing the coal block allocation case on Wednesday granted exemption from personal appearance to industrialist and Congress leader Naveen Jindal till June 30 to contest the general election.

Jindal told Special Judge Bharat Parashar that he wished to contest from Kurukshetra in Haryana and sought exemption from personal appearance during the election period. Jindal is a former MP from Kurukshetra.

The court was hearing the case related to the allocation of Jharkhand’s Amarkonda Murgadangal coal block to Jindal Steel and Gagan Sponge.
