COVID-19: Doctor sees 1000 patients after testing positive

Hyderabad: An alleged grave professional lapse by a doctor may have led to scores of his patients getting infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nizamabad district. This was found by government officials during the course of investigation into the going spike in COVID-19 cases in the district. 

Dr. Nishkal Prabhu who is the owner of Nishkal Neuro Multispecialty Hospital in Nizamabad was seeing patients even after his COVID-19 test confirmed that he was infected with the virus. He is believed to have seen more than 1000 patients after the infection.

After getting the information, officials of the Health department went to meet the doctor. However, Dr. Nishkal reportedly left before the arrival of their and switched off his mobile phone. Officials then conducted COVID-19 tests on the hospital staff and 10 of them were found to be positive as wel.

In view of the incidentm Health department officials have requested the district administration to take measures to arrest the guilty doctor. Dr. Nishkal has been accused of grave professional negligence as after being Corona positive he must have quarantined himself.  His seeing the patients after his infection is a criminal act.  Strict action is likely to be taken against the doctor.
