Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police South Zone Task Force team on Wednesday have arrested a man for running a cricket betting racket that was operating in the city.
Police have seized over Rs. 1.5 lakh in cash during the raid.
According to police, the suspect is identified as Mohammed Ishaq Ahmed resident of Falaknuma. He was accepting the betting amount through online process by operating a website bsf777.com which is a legal offence according to the law.
On receiving secret information on Wednesday, the South Zone Task Force along with Falaknuma police apprehended the man, but the prime suspect and the main bookie Raju is absconding. police have come to know that he is hiding in Maharashtra.
The accused Ahmed has been taken into judicial custody by the police for further investigation.
