Cyberabad police detain two under PDA Act for extortion

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police commissioner, on Monday, invoked detention orders under the Preventive Detention Act (PDA) against two for extortion.

The accuses identified as Arrolla Vignesh (37) resident of Neknmapur village in Ranga Reddy District and Avusupally Ramaswamy (35) resides in Vikarabad Mandal.

According to police, the prime accused Arrolla Vignesh along with his accomplices Ramaswamy, Arrolla Krishnaiah, and Arrolla Venkat use to identify new constructing apartments and trespass into the sites and stop the construction work by ascertaining that the land belongs to his ancestors.

Vignesh used to threaten the workers and supervisors of the site with dire consequences demanding huge amount for allowing the construction work.

Police informed that Vignesh has six cases registered against him at Narsingi police station of Cyberabad Commissionerate, even after being released on bail he had continued the same attitude. Vignesh even committed many thefts of cash and gold ornaments from households and temples.

Cyberabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar said, “As their acts have become prejudicial to the maintenance of public order the two accused have been detained under PDA to keep them away from the society for a considerable period in the prison which can prevent them from committing theft.”
