Dabeerpura by-election: Low turnout recorded

Hyderabad: In Dabeerpura by-election that was held on 22nd January, a low turnout was recorded. Incidents of arguments between workers of various political parties were also reported.

In the election, 27.31 percent turnout was recorded.

Polling stations

Although, authorities have made elaborate arrangements and setup 66 polling stations, very few voters cast their votes after 2 p.m.

It may be mentioned that the seat became vacant after the Corporator of Dabeerpura, Riyaz-ul-Hassan Effendi got elected as Member of Legislative Council (MLC).

In the previous GHMC election, the seat of Dabeerpura was won by MIM.

Arguments

Due to the arguments between a social worker Syed Saleem and MIM leaders, mild tension prevailed at Community Hall.

At the Islamic School polling booth near Bibi Ka Alawa, arguments broke out between the Congress and MIM workers.
