Day after Ayodhya verdict, NSA holds interfaith meet

New Delhi: Just a day after the Ayodhya verdict, National Security Advisor Ajit doval held a meeting at his residence of religious leaders cutting across faiths.

Shia Cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad and Swami Chidanand Saraswati was present at the inter-religious meet at Doval’s residence on Sunday. Baba Ramdev, Swami Parmatmanand were also present there.

Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev said that they will ensure that peace and harmony are maintained in the country at any cost.The (Qaumi Ekta), unity and integrity of the country will not be allowed to be affected, he added.

Naved Hamid of Majlis-E-Mushawarat and Salim Engineer of Jamat-E-Islami Hind were also part of the meeting.

This meeting comes a day after the NSA held meeting with Avdheshanand Giri, Swami Parmatmanand and Baba Ramdev which lasted an hour. Saturdays meeting was to discuss the Ayodhya verdict.

Talking about the meeting, Swami Chidanand Saraswati said: “I think that during the meeting one thing came out — Ibadat bhale mil kar na kar sakein/Lekin apne watan ki hifajat to mil kar kar sakte hain (We may not worship together but we can protect our country together).”

“Second thing — Ek aisa faisla ayya hai ki jisne sare fasle hi door kar diye (One such a decision has come which has bridged all the gaps). It is time to make decisions, which do not create a divide, but join hearts,” said he, while thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the meeting was successful.

Sunday’s cross faith meeting was to take the message of peace forward, particularly in the aftermath of the Ayodhya verdict.

The Supreme Court on Saturday passed order favouring construction of Ram Temple in the disputed land in Ayodhya, leaving many apprehensive of the law and order situation.
