DCP commits suicide as SHO turns ‘black-mailer’, held

Faridabad: Special Investigation Team set up to probe into Faridabad DCP Vikram’s suicide, the SIT has arrested the Station House officer accused of ‘blackmailing’ on Wednesday.

According to sources, Bhupani police station SHO Abdul Sahid was suspended after interrogation and will be produced in the local court today, TOI reports.

While local reporter Satish Malik with Mazdoor Morcha also named in the FIR, is still on the run.

Satish Malik had previously run a couple of articles two months ago making certain accusations against the DCP.

DCP Vikram shoots himself using service revolver:

DCP Vikram Kapoor on Wednesday allegedly shot himself with his service revolver in the living room of the house at Police Lines around 6am when his wife and elder son were asleep.

Probe setup for investigation DCP’s suicide at his residence:

In order to probe DCP’s suicide, Police commissioner Sanjay Kumar had constituted a four-member SIT under ACP (crime) Anil Yadav.

The SIT comprises of Sector 30 inspector in-charge Vimal Rai, sub-inspector Ravinder Kumar and sub-inspector Satish Kumar the source added. 

In his suicide note, the 58-year-old Kapoor, accused SHP Sahid of “blackmailing” him to frame him in “a false case” for the past one and a half months. “I am doing this due to (inspector) Abdul. … he was blackmailing — Vikram,” the note said.

According to Kapoor’s family members, SHO Sahid was acting as a mediator between the reporter and the DCP.

“He (Kapoor) was upset with the reporting done against him by a local reporter. We are not aware about the blackmail. But Abdul (Sahid) was in contact with Kapoor because of this news. The SHO had told the DCP that he will sort out the matter with the reporter. We are not very sure about what was happening but Abdul was a kind of mediator between the two… he was disturbed for the last one and a half months,” said a family member.
