Delhi: Romanian national held for tampering with ATM

New Delhi: A Romanian national was apprehended by the police after he, along with another person, was found tampering with an ATM kiosk in the Jaffrabad Police station limits, the police said on Wednesday.

The arrested accused, identified as 27-year-old Isfan Iustin Georgel, a Romanian national, along with another person was found to be removing one instrument attached near the keyboard and hastily trying to escape with the same.

When the people present nearby inquired about their activity, the duo started to run in desperation while trying to conceal these items.

“A PCR call was made and one person was caught along with one device which is fitted with electronic circuits apparently for the purpose of stealing data ATM/Credit cards etc of unsuspecting customers to misuse and defraud,” a senior police official said.

Following the arrest, a case under relevant section of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of damage to Public Property Act was registered while further investigation in the matter is underway.
