During scorching days, auto driver Shaik Saleem quenches thirst of people

Hyderabad: The rising mercury has not only left humans dehydrated but also birds. To quench the thirst of people, the 45-year-old auto driver, Shaik Saleem has got a novel idea. He supplies clean, chilled drinking water to the passersby. To seek Allah’s pleasure, Shaik Saleem starts his run to quench the thirst of Hyderabadis from his home in Falaknuma at 9 am.

Saleem who lives with his wife and four children goes around the city supplying chilled purified water to traffic policemen, bystanders, passengers, and other pedestrians.

Deccan Chronicle quoted him as saying “It’s been two years since I started supplying water to the citizens of Hyderabad. The Quran says to give food and water to all the people. Whatever you distribute will come back to you in equal measure.”

Saleem starts driving his auto at 9 am and drives till 6 pm. He has to purchase two bottles each of 20 litres for Rs 30. He says, on some days even three bottles of water are not enough.
