Ex-Army officer calls for death, rape of Muslims as revenge

NEW DELHI: Retired Major General SP Sinha stirred controversy for remarks advocating killing and rape of Muslims to avenge atrocities against Kashmiri Pandits.

Appearing on the live debate on Hindi news channel TV9 Bharatvarsh, the retired Major General purportedly said maut ke badlay maut, balatkar ke badle balatkar (death in return for death, and rape in return for rape) as a solution of ‘killing and rape’ of Kashmiri Pandits in the early 1990s.

Even the moderator, journalist Sumaira Sheikh objected to his remarks and also the panellists strongly disapproved with him. The former officer’s views, however, got support from members of the audience.

The clip with reprehensible remarks has received strong backlash on Twitter with netizens asking him to apologize. They also demanded stern action against the retired officer.
