New Delhi: University Grants Commission (UGC) released the list of fake universities in the country.
In all, there are 23 fake universities across the country. Most of them are located in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. UP has eight and Delhi has seven fake universities.
Here is the list of fake universities in various states as reported by Indian Express:

Apart from this list, Puducherry, Aligarh, Bihar, Rourkela, Odisha, Kanpur, Pratapgarh, Mathura, Kanpur, Nagpur, Kerala, Karnataka, Bihar have one fake university each whereas Allahabad has two fake universities.
It may be mentioned that UGC had released the list of fake universities last year also. In the list, Maithili University/Vishwavidyalaya, Darbhanga (Bihar), Varanaseya Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi (UP), Commercial University Ltd., Daryaganj (New Delhi), United Nations University, Delhi and Vocational University, Delhi were included.
