BJP needs 6 more Assembly seats

If BJP does not win 6 Assembly seats, it will lose the majority.

It got 105 seats out of 224 member Assembly whereas Congress and JD(S) got 80 and 37 seats respectively.

As a result of the coalition, Kumaraswamy was made CM of Karnataka.

Before the completion of one year rule, 17 MLAs of JD(s) defected as a result of which Mr. Kumaraswamy was forced to step down a CM.

After declaring 17 members of JD(s) ineligible, the strength of the Karnataka Assembly got reduced to 207.

JD (S) and Congress

The JD(s) and Congress Govt. lost the majority as 104 Assembly seats were needed for forming the Govt.

Since BJP now had 105 seats, Mr. Yeddyurappa formed the Govt. Most of the members of JD(s) who had defected from their party, got the membership of BJP and they are contesting by-elections on BJP ticket.

Congress hopes that BJP won’t be able to capture 6 Assembly seats.
