FEEDING THOSE WHO BREAK THEIR FASTING

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Al-Nawawi records in his book Riyad al-Salihin:

Zayd ibn Khalid, RadhiAllahu Anhu, reported: The Messenger of Allah, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, said:

Whoever helps break the fast of a fasting person, he will have the same reward as him without decreasing anything from the reward of the fasting person.

Umm ‘Umarah bint Ka’b, RadhiAllahu Anha, reported: The Prophet, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, entered her home and she served him food. The Prophet, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, said:

Will you eat?

She said, “Indeed, I am fasting.” The Prophet, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, said:

Verily, angels send blessings upon a fasting person when others eat in their presence until they finish.

Anas ibn Malik, RadhiAllahu Anhu, reported: The Prophet, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, came to the home of Sa’d ibn ‘Ubadah, RadhiAllahu Anhu, who presented him with bread and olive oil. The Prophet, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, ate them and he said:

The fasting have broken their fast with you, the righteous have eaten your food, and the angels send blessings upon you.
