Five people held for betting on IPL match

Muzaffarnagar: As the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League kicked off from 23rd March, five people were arrested here allegedly for betting on an Indian Premier League match, police said on Monday.

On Sunday evening, police raided the shop near Vahelna Chowk and recovered six mobiles and Rs 50,000 in cash, said Civil Lines SHO Navratan Gautam.

The arrested accused are being interrogated, he said. Every year there will be many cricket betting gangs caught during the IPL for betting across the country.

This has become a business for many people as betting on cricket matches from around the world is a hugely lucrative business. It has its own payment system and rules.
