Siliguri :The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized foreign cigarettes worth over Rs 1 crore in the state and arrested one person in this connection, an official said on Monday.
The smuggler, identified as Sankat Yadav, a resident of Bihar, was arrested from Siliguri on Sunday with a consignment of over 10 lakh foreign cigarettes. The value of the seized consignment is around Rs. 1.05 crore, the DRI said.
According to agency sources, the accused had collected the cigarettes from Myanmar and Guwahati and was smuggling them to Kolkata.
