Former IAS officer Shah Faesal proposes Nobel Peace Prize for Imran Khan, cites reason

J&K: Former IAS officer Shah Faesal proposed Nobel Peace Prize for Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Imran Khan. This proposal comes hours after Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who was released from Pakistan’s custody on Friday, reached Delhi.

Mr. Faesal tweeted, “A Nobel Peace Prize to @ImranKhanPTI could drastically change the way Pakistan operates in the South Asia region.

IK has already raised the bar for leadership in the region, and the Prize could encourage him to further nurture the India-Pak relationship.

He deserves the prize”.

On the other hand, a motion was submitted in Pakistan’s National Assembly Secretariat on Saturday demanding Nobel Peace Prize for Imran Khan for his role in “de-escalating” tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad. The motion was submitted by Pakistan’s Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry.

The motion read that “Imran Khan expertly diverted the situation towards peace” and therefore he should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. On Friday, #NobelPeacePrizeForImranKhan was the top trend on Twitter.

It may be mentioned that tensions escalated between India and Pakistan after the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing that killed around 40 CRPF Personnel in Pulwama on 14th February.
