Hyderabad: 15th August marks the Independence Day in India, a day to rejoice independent India. It is not just a national holiday, it is our holiday.
The whole country is lightened up in the aura of freedom. The festival is celebrated with flair and style and there are many interesting ways to celebrate this ‘Golden Day’.
Mr Shaik Ahmed who is popularly known as JJ Hindustani, 63-year-old, auto driver is a resident of Hakimpet, Tolichowki with a notion and pride that ‘there is no country like India and no city like Hyderabad’ has an interesting style of spreading love on Independence Day.
Mr Ahmed has been driving Auto rickshaw for the past 40 years and has been providing free rides to customers on Republic day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti showing the diversity we Indians have.
He has been providing this special service from the past 15 years when he was around 41 years old.
Speaking to Siasat.com Shaik Ahmed said, “I am doing this service free of cost for my fellow Indians, I want to be a part of our celebration of freedom”.
“I am proud to be an Indian Muslim and I have always thanked ‘Allah’ for giving me this opportunity of being able to serve my fellow Indians”. He added.
He decorates his vehicle with copper items and lights which he had brought in 2010 and keeps polishing it every year before attaching it to his auto which he as calls ‘JJ ki Dulhania’.
He is commonly known as J.J Hindustani and people also refer him as J.J Bhai for portraying his love and sincerity for Hindustan (India).
He further states that the J.J in his name means ‘Jai Jawaan’ and ‘Jai Kisan’.
He generally starts the free auto ride service after the flag hosting in his locality is observed.
From 8 o’clock in the morning to 8 o’clock in the night his free services can be availed by anyone.
He says, “I do not accept any money offered by passengers for the special service but some of the passengers force me to take it, I humbly accept it and later donate it to the poor. I want everyone to benefit from this service.”
He added, “My service is only for the blessing and prayers I receive from my fellow citizens, it the most prized thing one can get.”
On questioning about his loss of money for the particular day he said, “I don’t bother about my income as Almighty has blessed me with good health and family. The loss of money for one day can be recovered in one hour if the almighty wishes.”
“My service is to celebrate the happiness of being an Indian and I will be the first one to defend my country if required.” He adds.
We all should celebrate freedom in our day to day lives with the same zeal which we have on special occasions.
Independence should come in every sense for individuals; we all should be free from caste, creed, race, religion, regional differences, gender discrimination, etc.
We all should come together and eradicate all these issues with unity and enjoy independence in all true senses.
