GHMC conducts raid, seizes four wholesale shops; here’s what Raja Singh says

Hyderabad: A surprise inspection was conducted by GHMC Vigilance and Enforcement wing at Begum Bazar on Friday during which it seized four wholesale shops for using plastic bags under ban.

As per the report published in the Hindu, Bhavani Plastics, Divya Traders, Tirumala Traders and Sanmathi Plastics were still using plastic covers less than 50 micron thickness.

Enforcement teams had issued notices to 12 shops in Begum Bazar and seized more than 10 lakh plastic covers last week. Eight of them have given an affidavit that they would refrain from using the covers in future. However, the remaining four had not responded. They did not adhere to the rules. Hence they have been seized.

According to Director of Vigilance and Enforcement, Viswajit Kampati, MLA Raja Singh reached the spot and questioned why manufacturers were not being raided. He was explained that the plastic covers were also being sourced from outside the state.
