GHMC monsoon team rise to occasion, clear water stagnation,trees

Hyderabad: Various actions taken by the GHMC are showing positive results during the incessant rains for the past two days. Heavy rains lashed the city in various parts from Tuesday evening ranging from 11 cm to 13 cm, the Monsoon and Disaster Management teams swung into action and cleared water logged areas and removed uprooted trees and ensured flow of vehicular traffic effectively.

 As per the warning of heavy rain from the Met Department, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar instructed the officials to take prompt action as  per the situation. Some 384 Monsoon teams, 13 disaster teams swung into action during heavy rains and cleared 82 water stagnation points and 12 uprooted trees were cleared and DRF teams saved two lives, who were stranded in the heavy flow of water.

     Mayor Dr Bonthu Rammohan monitored the situation from Command Control Room at the GHMC Head office and instructed the officials of various departments, Traffic Police, HMWS&SB, Fire Department and Revenue officials to co-ordinate among themselves and ensure safety of citizens by taking timely action. He also instructed the DRF teams to remain alert on 195 identified water logging points. The Mayor, along with Disaster Management Director visited Khairatabad Railway station and other areas and supervised the clearing of water logging points.

   GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar held a video conference with the officials and instructed them to alert their monsoon teams during heavy rains in the evenings.
