GHMC, police officials discuss Ganesh Immersion 2019

Hyderabad: Ahead of Ganesh Immersion a meeting was held at GHMC head office on Monday. Officials discussed the necessary arrangements required for Ganesh Immersion at Tank Bund.

The meeting was headed by Musharaff Ali, Additional commissioner of GHMC, Shankaraiah DCP of Traffic, L.S. Chauhan, DCP of North zone and Kalmeshwar, DCP of the central zone and other board members were present.

During the meeting, Musharaff Ali said, “All necessary arrangements will be taken up like sanitation, filling of potholes as per the procession route, removal of construction debris, Ali stressed that special attention will be given for public safety.”

Earlier, there used to be various control rooms for each department but this year the GHMC has decided to assemble a centralized integrated control system at Tank Bund and another at NTR Marg road.

Aiming to have better coordination at fieldwork and to avoid any delay in attending emergency work rather than waiting from higher officials concerned.

 Further, he asked the officials to air the issues they faced based on the experience of last year so, that this year those mistakes won’t be repeated. The officials from Police Department suggested the Additional commissioner of GHMC provide 21 cranes on 9th and 10th day and increase it to 29 on 11th day.

They also suggested increasing the staff members, drivers and operators. Who would operate in three shifts and also provide a suitable place at people’s plaza for parking of public vehicles for those who come for immersion of idols in order to avoid traffic jams on the necklace road.

Musharaff Ali asked the Road and Buildings department officials to provide the barricading as per the requirement of the police department for the proper regulation of Ganesh Immersion.

The R&B officials informed that barricading work will be taken up and illumination will be done with the installation of 37,000 odd lights.

23 distribution transformers at important points will be arranged to ensure uninterrupted power supply and sufficient mobiles toilets will also be placed.

Special Care would be taken to curb traffic enrooted to religious places. Separate passes will be provided to utility vehicles in order to permit the vehicles to move freely during the procession.

The Officials have also decided to provide health camps and water distribution camps to the public which had a positive response last year.

Further, the officials requested the representatives of Ganesh Utsav committee members to ensure that ‘No’ plastic materials are used for distribution of Prasadam’s and any other edible materials.

The officials also added that the public should not erect flexes and large banners on vehicles as it obstructs the moment of vehicles and causes traffic jams.

However, they are permitted to display banners if any, at authorized hoardings only.
