VH, another go on fast urging Rahul not to quit

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leaders V. Hanumantha Rao and TPCC general secretary Bollu Kishan on Thursday staged dharna and went on fast in front of Gandhi Bhavan, urging Congress supremo Rahul Gandhi to withdraw his resignation in the interest of the party workers. TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and other party senior leaders visited the dharna site and expressed their solidarity with VH and Kishan.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the party needed the leadership of Rahul Gandhi in the present trying times. He said the party could only be led by the Gandhi family as it had the power to unite the entire country’s party cadres. He said Rahul Gandhi was not responsible for the party debacle in the recent Lok Sabha elections and it was the collective responsibility of all the party leaders.

VH and Shabbir Ali also spoke on the occasion. Later, the TPCC president offered lemon juice to VH and other leaders to break the hunger strike.
