Govt. passing bills keeping opposition in dark: Azad

New Delhi: Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad slammed the government over passing of the contentious Triple Talaq Bill. He said the Centre passed the bill without properly informing and keeping opposition in the dark. Mr Azad said that Congress didn’t know the bill would be tabled and thus couldn’t issue whip to MPs. He blamed JDU and AIADMK for passing of the bill and said the bill got passed in Rajya Sabha as JDU and AIADMK abstained from voting.

Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the government is passing the bills with undemocratic means. Speaking to media, he said this is the first time in the past 27 years that a bill was not sent to the select committee despite opposition’s demand.

He said the government neither cares democracy nor judiciary and does whatever it wants.
