Govt plans to extend Basti Dawakhanas in Telangana districts

Hyderabad: The Telangana Health Minister Etela Rajender announced to set up a Basti Dawakhana in every area of 10,000 population. 

During the question session, the health minister said that 225 basti clinics were set up in Hyderabad and the state government is seriously considering to extend Basti Dawakhanas in other big cities.

Rajender said that the population in the urban areas is rapidly increasing. There are many Basti Dawakhanas in Greater Hyderabad which are performing well and the public is fully getting benefit from these clinics.

The health minister said that the Basti Dawakhanas were set up on the pattern of Delhi’s Mohalla clinics and these dawakhanas are giving positive results.

Rajender said that Chief Minister KCR has approved 350 Basti Dawakhanas.  A Basti Dawakhana is being set up in any area with 10,000 population.   These Dawakhanas are provided with a doctor, a staff nurse and an attender. 

The Basti Dawakhanas are operating from 9 am to 4 pm.  An amount of Rs.20,000 will be released monthly for the medicines in these Dawakhanas.

All the Basti Dawakhanas are connected with Telangana Diagnostic centre.  Those visiting Basti Dawakahnas are being provided with quality medical services.

Basti Dawakhanas are successful in Hyderabad and hence the state government is seriously planning to extend its network in other districts of the state.
