Govt to set up fast track court in Disha rape-murder case

Hyderabad: The State government on Wednesday accorded permission to constitute a designated fast track court for the speedy disposal of Shadnagar Disha Rape and Murder case.

The Law Department of Telangana has issued a Government Order designating the first Additional District and Sessions Judge in Mahbubnagar as a special court for the speedy trial of the gruesome crime which had attracted country-wide condemnation.

In the meantime, a local court in Mahbubnagar today has granted seven-day police custody of the four accused who are allegedly involved in the ghastly crime.

The Government after carefully examining the proposal from the Registrar-General of Telangana High Court, the law department requested the Registrar-General to take necessary action.

The Cyberabad police arrested four alleged accused in rape and murder of the 26-year-old veterinary assistant surgeon. The Chief Minister Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed the concerned authorities to deal the case in a manner suitable with the gravity of the crime. He also asked the authorities to establish a fast track court for conducting the trial in a speedy manner and disposal. 

The suspects are lodged at Cherlapally Central Prison under tight security.
