Govt’s apathy will push Hyderabad into ICU: BJP

Hyderabad: BJP leader and Futuristic Cities president Karuna Gopal today criticized Municipal Administration Minister K.T. Ramarao for hard selling Hyderabad in Davos and pitching for investments, particularly Pharma companies. Already several pharma companies in Hyderabad were polluting the Lakes with their effluents.

Addressing the media here on Friday, Karuna Gopal said the “TRS Government’s apathy will push the city of Hyderabad into ICU (Intensive care unit) and it will convert the “city of fortune” into the “city of misfortune”, she quipped. In the last few days, the High Court and National Green Tribunal summoned the GHMC authorities. A Division Bench the High Court expressed its displeasure over the negligent attitude of the officials concerned.

The BJP leader also expressed her anxiety over the present trend of encroaching lakes and ponds in Telangana State.

Hyderabad and Telangana will face the situation like Rajasthan Jaisalmer, she observed. Highlighting the status of the lakes in Hyderabad, Karuna said, “Almost all the lakes of city, including the iconic Hussainsagar are completely polluted”.
