Hyderabad: From now onwards, Haj pilgrims are required to file Income Tax Returns (ITR). This has been necessitated on account of the new conditions laid down for the passengers making a foreign trip for which they have to pay more than Rs. 2 lakh towards airfare.
In case, the Haj Pilgrim fail to submit ITR, they will be liable for fines.
Sources of Haj Committee indicated that a review is being made to study the conditions laid down by Income Tax Authorities since the amount collected towards airfare is less than Rs. 2 lakh. A final decision will be taken soon.
