HC issues notices to Legislature & Law secretaries on contempt petition

Hyderabad: High Court on Friday expressed anguish and issued bailable warrants to Legislature Secretary V Narsimha Charyulu and Legal Secretary Niranjan Rao for failing to follow its previous directive to attend the court with regard to revocation of suspension of Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Sampath Kumar.

Hearing the contempt petition filed by the two legislators, the court directed the two officials to attend before the court in person. It may be said here that the two legislators had reportedly attacked Council Chairman K Swamy Goud in the Assembly during Governor ESL Narsimhan’s address to both Houses of the Legislature. However, the Congress leaders provided video footage to the court and pleaded ignorance. On this, the court directive was not followed by the Legislature secretary and Law secretary to attend. Earlier the court asked the government to repeal the suspension order.
