Hearing on reservation in Supreme Court on Tuesday

Hyderabad:  A 5-member constitutional bench of the Supreme Court of India will review the petition with case numbers 7618 of 2005 and 6206 of 2010 on Tuesday. The petition urges for a 4 percent reservation for Muslims in education and employment as according to the Sachar Commission report Muslims are the most backward community in the nation.

Zafar Javeed, Secretary (SUES)

According to Mr. Zafar Javeed, Secretary Sultan ul Uloom Education Society (SUES), which is one of the parties defending the case, senior advocates including Aijaz Maqbool, Huzaifa Ahmedi, Nakul Deewan, and Abhimanyu Bhandari will be defending the case in Court No.3.

Mr. Javeed said “4% reservation has benefitted innumerable students and helped them fulfill their dream of pursuing their higher education in professional courses, particularly in engineering and medicine. The reservation has helped scores of young graduates in securing grade 1 and grade 2 jobs from this reservation”, he said.
