Hong Kong stocks close with losses

Hong Kong: Hong Kong shares finished in negative territory Monday with investors concerned about the outlook for China-US trade talks and ongoing protests that have struck the city for months.

The Hang Seng Index fell 0.44 percent, or 114.58 points, to 25,824.72.

But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 1.45 percent, or 40.24 points, to 2,814.99 as authorities eased restrictions on investing in certain stocks.

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, added 1.97 percent, or 29.13 points, to 1,508.99.
