Hong Kong stocks end tough week with a win

Hong Kong: Hong Kong shares edged up Friday after a five-day losing streak but gains were kept in check by a regional sell-off and ongoing concerns about the global economy.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.19 percent, or 55.21 points, to close at 29,605.01.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index sank 1.20 percent, or 37.43 points, to 3,086.40, extending Thursday’s loss of more than two percent.

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, dived 1.33 percent, or 22.45 points, to 1,665.80.
