As exams are around the corner we will be helping out the students by giving out tips and tricks on how to be focused and stay stress-free while appearing for exams.

What is Exam stress: Most of us have been in a situation where we sit on the desk and open the exam paper, only to realize that all the information we had been revising for the past few months has skipped out of our mind. So we start panicking as we have forgotten what we have studied for the last full year, hard work which we have done, is of no worth now. All we hear is the ticking of the watch; we end up counting the minutes in despair until the end of the test. This is the kind of worst feeling that can occur due to exam phobia. This particular form of stress is known as exam anxiety. Some people are more vulnerable to this kind of tension than others.

Why exam stress occurs:

Stress is a natural healthily response of the body that humans have evolved to protect them in times of danger. When a person is faced with a stressor, a hormone released in the body that causes various physiological changes; the heart begins to pump up blood faster and faster in order to supply the adequate amount of oxygenated blood as the body’s muscles require a greater supply of oxygen, therefore, blood pressure increases and the body perspires more to prevent overheating caused due to increase in metabolic rate of the body. Although, this is an advantage, eventually excellent at preparing the body for a fight with a wild animal like a wild cat, or even a tiger, but it is not so great when it comes to students that are giving their exams.
