Hyd court directs police to register case against Akbar Owaisi

Hyderabad: Nampaly Metropolitan Courts on Thursday directed the Saidabad police to register a case against the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) floor leader in Telangana State Legislative Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi in an alleged hate speech.

A city based lawyer Kashimshetty Karuna Sagar had earlier filed a complaint with the Fourteenth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate alleging that on July 26, MIM Chandrayangutta legislator had delivered a hate speech at a public meeting under the banner “Jalsa-e-Yaad-e-Fakhr-e-Millat” in Karimnagar.

Fakhre-e-Millat is the honorific used by MIM for the grandfather of Akbaruddin Owaisi, Abdul Wahid Owaisi, who was the founder President of the party after it was renewed in independent India in the mid 1950s.

The lawyer in his petition alleged that in 2013 a sedition case was registered against Akbaruddin Owaisi in Nirmal Town of formerly Adilabad District, wherein he was granted conditional bail. But he had violated the bail conditions in 2015 by delivering an alleged provocative speech in Kochadhaman village in Kishengunj district of West Bengal.

The petitioner also alleged that the MIM legislator is prejudicial to the communal harmony and is promoting enmity between religions. “Akbaruddin Owaisi has made the statement with ulterior motive to divide the Indian society on the lines of religion so that he can be politically benefitted” said Karuna Sagar.

On hearing the arguments of the lawyer the court directed the Saidabad police (in Hyderabad) to register a FIR under IPC sections 153(A,B,) and 506, to investigate and file a report before the court.

Karuna Sagar has filed several complaints against the MIM legislator for his alleged hate speeches.
