Hyderabad: 6th Convocation of St. Joseph’s Degree college held

Hyderabad: St. Joseph’s Degree & PG College conducted its 6th Convocation Ceremony on 5th of October 2019 at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Auditorium, Basheerbagh.

The ceremony was presided over by the Chief Guest Prof. V. Rajashekhar, Pro VC of the University of Hyderabad, Prof. E.Suresh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, EFLU, the Guest of honour, Prof. Sreeram Venkatesh, Controller of Examinations, OU, and honourable dignitaries, Rev. Fr. Msgr Swarna Bernard and Rev. Fr. Allam Arogya Reddy, Vice Chairman and Secretary of HAES, Rev. Fr. K. Marreddy, Principal, St. Joseph’s Degree & PG College and Rev. Fr. Dr. D. Sunder Reddy, Principal of St. Joseph’s PG College. Former Principal Rev. Fr. Vincent Arokiadas also attended the ceremony.

 The Convocation Ceremony began at 10 am with the academic procession. It was followed by a rousing prayer by the college choir, Anno Domini. The lighting of the lamp took place next. Rev. Fr. K. Marreddy, the Principal gave the welcome address, mentioning the rapid strides the college had made over the years, both in number of students enrolled and courses offered. This time, 750 students were part of the Convocation, with 15 gold medals and a pass percentage of 95. 

    The Chief Guest, Prof.V. Raja Shekar Garu, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad, a luminary of the field of management, spoke of the impressive academic and extracurricular achievements of St. Joseph’s students. He lauded them for their hard work but also pointed out that success in the professional world required constant improvement and skill upgradation. Students could no longer rely purely on classroom teaching. Instead, they had to acquire new knowledge and industry exposure.

 Greetings were exchanged by the guest of honour, Prof. Sreeram Venkatesh before the pledge. This was followed by the awarding of the gold medals to the toppers and the distribution of degree certificates to the rest of the students. The program concluded by noon with a Vote of Thanks and the singing of the national anthem by Anno Domini.
