Hyderabad: Advocate arrested for cheating client

Hyderabad:  The City Police arrested an advocate for cheating a techie in a drunk driving case.

According to reports, Repalli Venkata Pavan Kumar on 16 August was caught for a drunk driving offense, the Hindu reports.

To avoid imprisonment, the techie soon rushed to Advocate J. Bhanu for help in getting bail.

“To avoid imprisonment, Mr Kumar met advocate J. Bhanu Prasad, who demanded ₹70,000 and his smartwatch to help him get bail and release his seized car,” said KPHB Colony police inspector S. Laxmi Narayana.

Despite paying the amount, Mr Kumar was sent to jail for three days on August 28.

On realizing the advocate had cheated him, Mr Kumar approached the police and lodged a complaint against the advocate.

The advocate was arrested on Sunday and later produced in the court.

General vehicle checking conducted

Elite anti-terror outfit organisation of Telangana – Organisation for Counter Terrorist Operations (OCTOPUS) along with Pahadi Sahreef police conducted a general vehicle checking on Nehru Outer ring road on Monday which lasted for 2 hours.

Lineman arrested

The ACB sleuths arrested an electricity lineman of Shahpur section in Shamshabad for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹28,000 from the complainant.

“The accused, Kasi Ramulu, demanded bribe from Gaini Thirupathi Reddy of Ootpally village for shifting the electric meter inside the latter’s new house and give permanent connection from the pole,” an official release said.
