Hyderabad: Auto Driver sentenced 10 RI for impregnating minor

Hyderabad: Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge sentenced auto driver and rape convict of minor whom he impregnated in the year 2016 with 10 years of rigorous imprisonment yesterday.

The 32-year-old accused identified as Vanka Rajesh alias Raju was found guilty of committing the crime to the minor girl he used to drop at school under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, TT reports.

The court directed the accused to pay fine of Rs 2000 under POCSO Act along with awarding him RI for 10 years along with 2 years of additional RI and fine of Rs 1,000 for other offence committed under section 506 of IPC.

The sentences will run concurrently as per the verdict delivered by Suneetha Kunchala, the first Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge for trial of cases under POCSO Act.

Additional Public Prosecutor K Pratap Reddy said the minor’s girl’s parent’s used to pay Rs 2,400 per month for picking up their children from their residence to school and again dropping them at their house.

The girl refused to go to school one day raising speculations, on questioning the victim revealed the driver was violating her for the last six months in a vacant railway quarters to her parents.

She added when she resisted, he would threaten her with dire consequences to eliminate her family members.

The parents filed a complaint against the driver leading to his arrest.
