Hyderabad: Four persons arrested for cricket betting

Hyderabad: A cricket betting racket for the ongoing India-Australia one day match series was busted by Cyberabad’s Special Operations Team on Sunday with the arrest of four men involved in the betting business operated from a rented house in Aramghar.

According to the officials, the betting was organized for Big Bash League (BBL) cricket matches in Australia and the ongoing one day series between India and Australia.

The team has also seized Rs 5 lakh cash from the men and also recovered Calculators, phones and notebooks. The men used an app for cricket betting.

Two of the four people arrested and brother Ankith Agarwal and Mohith Agarwal begun their business in 2016 along with their two accomplices Rohit Agarwal and Y Mahesh.

Several cases are pending against the accused in Sultan Bazar, Maredpally and Rajendra Nagar police stations said the police officials.

Ankith, Mohith and Rohit, who are residents of Charminar, have been arrested earlier and despite that, they have continued to organize betting circles. Rohit runs a jewellery shop.
