Hyderabad: The commissioner’s task force, south zone team and the Falaknuma Police on Thursday apprehended a cell phone snatching gang of four members who were involved in five cases of cell phone snatching. Police recovered all the 5 lost phones.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohd AkbaruddinFarooqui (26), Mohd Mosin (22), Mohd Khadeer (25) and Mir Shahnawaz Ali (27).
“The gang divided themselves into two groups and used to travel late at night, around the city and target people moving alone. They committed robbery and extortions at knife point. The gang committed 1 robbery, 3 extortions and a theft case under Bahadurpura, Falaknuma, Moghalpura and Mailardevpally Police Station limits” said the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, Anjani Kumar.
“All the five lost cell phones were recovered from the possession of the accused and an auto, 2 two wheelers and a dagger that was used to steal from people was recovered from their possession” said the official.
Police said that Shaik Mohammed Mohsin is involved in 10 Cases, Mohd Akbaruddin Farooqui in 11 cases, Mohd Khadeer in 4 cases and Mir Shahnawaz Ali in 2 cases, adding that the PD act would be initiated against them.
