Hyderabad: HC seeks details of Assembly, Errum Manzil

Hyderabad: High Court of Telangana raised a question about the need to construct new Assembly building and also demolition of Errum Manzil.

High Court asked the Govt. of TS whether it has taken permission from Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority for the demolition of Errum Manzil. It has also sought clarification about the need for the new Assembly building despite the existence of old one.

Chief Justice of TS High Court directed the Govt. to submit a detailed report giving justification for the need to construct new Assembly building.

It may be mentioned that Govt. of Telangana had planned to construct new Assembly building after demolishing the historic monument of Errum Manzil. It had also laid the foundation stone for it.

Many civil society organizations and heritage conservationists opposed the move of TS Govt. saying that it is the burden on Govt. exchequer. Govt. is also facing the allegations of dismantling the historical monuments.

The descendants of Nawab Fakharul Mulk also approached High Court pleading for the conservation of the building. On their petition, High Court of TS issued injunction orders.
