Hyderabad IT firm raided for theft of data of individuals, police seize incriminating material

Hyderabad: Following a complaint from one Thummala Lokeswara Reddy of Indu Fortune Fields, KPHB on March 2 alleging misuse of personal information and sensitive data of individuals by Messrs IT Grid India Pvt Ltd through ‘Sevamitra Application’ the Madhapur Police registered a case under Sections 120-B, 379, 420, 188 IPC, 72 & 66 B of IT Act and took up investigation.

The police conducted search and seizure as per procedure on the IT Grids India Private Limited, Ayyappa Society, Madhapur on March 2 and 3 in the presence of its available employees Regonda Bhasker, Kaduloori Phani Kumar, Rebbala Vikarm Goud and Gurudu Chandra Shaker of Nizampet and seized a black colour I’ Ball, a black colour – Dell CPU, Black colour – Zebronic CPU-2, Black colour- Dell and a Black colour “M” Cab Series.

The police also seized a lot of electronic gadgets, hard-discs and other incriminating material besides some mobile phones and written documents. Database is said to have been stored with the Amazon Web Services. Police said the investigation till now has revealed that the IT Grids India Pvt. Ltd. has got access of personal information and sensitive data of individuals related to Aadhaar, Electoral Roll, Government Schemes, Voter’s information related to various political parties, etc.

The IT Grids India Pvt. Ltd. also runs a “Sevamitra” application of the TDP. Through this application, they have constituency-wise voters’ data and affiliations of each voter party-wise i.e. TDP, YSRCP, Janasena and neutral. They also have an option to identify the preference of a voter for a particular party. The application also has the information of voter ID details, caste details and address of the voter. Further, the said company also got the access to the beneficiaries data of the Government related to Andhra Pradesh public. The information is being used to make a profile of voters and use it for various political purposes. It is reliably learnt that some 45 to 50 criminal cases have been registered in various places of Andhra Pradesh about deletion of voters, the police added.

The investigating officers said they issued a notice to Amazon Web services for production of data base relating to application and other data.

They are also writing to UIDAI & Election Commission for more details. Detail analysis of the incriminating material is being sent to Forensic analysis as per the provisions of law, the police said.
