Hyderabad: A man was arrested for raping a 15-year-old girl in Madhapur on Thursday.
According to the police personnel, accused Ravi ageing 24, a water tanker driver, became friends with the minor who lives with her parents in Madhapur.
The girl used to go to a nearby water tank to fetch water, said Madhapur police, adding that it was during these trips that Ravi befriended her.
Last week, when the victim and her younger sister went to the water tank, Ravi forcibly took her into a nearby room and allegedly raped her, police said.
The girl told her mother about the incident following which a complaint was lodged at the Madhapur police station.
Based on a complaint, a case of rape and sections of the POCSO Act was booked against Ravi, who was traced and nabbed after being on the run for a few days.
