Hyderabad: Minor speeding in car kills couple

Hyderabad: Police detained three minor boys in connection with an accident in which a couple was killed and a child was seriously injured when the bike they were riding on was hit by a car driven by a minor at APPA road in Rajendranagar on Sunday afternoon.

Police said a minor boy was driving the car and two other minors were present in it when the incident occurred. The couple, identified by police as Lingamolla Chennaiah, 38, and Padmamma, 32, was going on the slip road towards Rajendranagar on their bike, bearing the number AP 22 S 7681, when the accident took place.

The infant, Mounica, was the daughter of Chennaiah brother-in-law. The couple was going to their native village with the child when the accident occurred, police said. The injured child was rushed to a private hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the dead couple were shifted to Osmania General Hospital mortuary by a police team. Chennaiah hails from Nawabpet Mandal of Mahabubnagar district and is a mason and lives atMoinabad.

Little Mounica was gravely injured in the mishap and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. The car, bearing the number TS 11 EG 8002, a Maruti Brezza, overturned after hitting the two-wheeler. The car driver was booked for driving in a rash and negligent manner under section 304-A (death by negligence) of the IPC and an investigation was started.
