Hyderabad: Nowhera Sheik knocks HC door, seeks to declare registered FIRs as ‘illegal’

Hyderabad: Heera Gold Exim Pvt Ltd managing Director Nowhera Shaikh has knocked the Telangana High Court door seeking transfer of all cases registered against her and the company to the SFIO the authorized body to probe company law offences.

Hearing the petition filed by Nowhera, Justice Shameem Akther of the Telangana high court on Friday issued notices to the Union corporate affairs ministry, its probe wing Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) and Telangana police asking them to file a response to the filed plea, TOI reports.

Nowhera also sought interim directive to release her from the women’s prison at Chanchalguda and to declare the FIRs registered against her by the Telangana police as illegal as they do not have jurisdiction to probe company law offences.

“Only the SFIO has the jurisdiction and hence, all the cases should be transferred to that agency,” her counsel contended.
